The Medical Director, Midwest Region ensures on a day-to-day basis that the medical team carries out Hazelden’s promise to our patients: that patients, families and customers will have the best opportunity for lifelong recovery.   The medical director does this by providing medical oversight for the designated Hazelden program(s); providing supervision of any physicians connected with the program, developing and supporting productivity and patient clinical-scheduling benchmarks, acting as a liaison to the local medical community, participating in the establishment and implementation of health care policies, examining and treating patients and performing related duties as required.  This position is under administrative and operations direction of the Regional Vice President of Recovery Services and under the medical and clinical direction of the Chief Medical Officer. - Physician Leadership - Supervise all physicians, psychiatrists and nurse practitioners, either employees or contractors, at multiple locations. - Patient Care - Clinical Leadership - Provide guidance and decision support concerning the provision of medical services for all phases of the care continuum. - Quality of Care - Education, Information, and Communication - Represent Hazelden services to various audiences to ensure consistent knowledge about services, processes and participation. - Educate, consult and lead other healthcare professionals in the assessment, diagnosis and management of medical conditions in order to promote and ensure safe quality treatment of physical health complications. - Serve as a member of the multi-disciplinary teams as assigned. - Follow Hazelden professional and behavioral competencies in the performance of all duties. - Actively participate in the development of a physician services team and increase the involvement of physician services in multidisciplinary care delivery - In addition to the leadership and administrative duties; provide direct patient clinical services as described in the job description of your MD specialty such as staff psychiatrist or staff physician for the agreed upon ratio of clinical to administrative time.  - Participate in the on call duties with other members of the medical team as needed

Patient Access Coordinators (PAC) are the gateway to care for our applicants to become patients with one-call resolution.  PAC’s will answer calls live, doing a high level assessment to determine clinical appropriateness for one of our facilities and verification of benefits.  PAC’s will collaborate with a number of other roles within the organization to provide resolution for the caller in the first call and to set up an appointment for a clinical assessment when appropriate.  Customer service and sales are important skills, along with the ability to multi-task. - Utilize customer service and sales skills to provide resolution to caller’s needs. - Conduct screening to determine clinical fit for Hazelden Betty Ford substance abuse services. - Obtain financial and insurance/benefit information in order to determine eligibility to participate in the programs available through HBFF locations. - Manage patient caseload to ensure conversion to admit. - Ensure appropriate documentation is recorded in patient record to facilitate complete and accurate registration in the EHR.

The Integrated Provider provides advanced clinical services in coordination with the treatment team consistent with Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s Standards of Care. The primary purpose is to provide group therapy and individual counseling/therapy services to persons with co-occurring substance abuse disorder and mental health problems.
